This oasis has a fairytale-like reputation for treasure and spirits.

Local legends suggest that there is a fascinating story behind this brilliantly vibrant spring that goes beyond its appearance.

According to legend, the Homolje Mountains contain significant gold hidden in the Golden Cave deep beneath the Krupaj Spring. The aquatic spirit of Tartor guards the treasure. On an annual event called "Devil's Day," the spirit plays the drums and invites other spirits to join in a celebration.

The entrance to the mystical cave only opens on a specific day. Vlach women seeking great power enter the river at night to meet a spirit. However, in exchange, the spirit requires a prize, typically a beautiful young woman.

Not only does the spring hold significance in Vlach myths and legends, but it also serves as an ecological oasis. The turquoise water is surrounded by lush vegetation, and the branches of the plants reach into the water like the arms of forest guardians. The scenery is truly mesmerizing.

A charming cave overlooks the lake, creating a beautiful fairytale setting. Beneath the lake lies a complex network of underground canals that even expert divers find challenging to navigate. The spring flows for 1,427 feet (435 meters) and meets with the Krupaj River. Additionally, a dam near the spring produces a stunning waterfall.
